COVID FAQ
Who do I contact if my child has been exposed to COVID-19 and/or has tested positive for COVID-19?
If your child has been exposed to COVID-19 and/or has tested positive, contact Maria Massey immediately at maria.massey@kirkdayschool.org and follow the protocols listed in this document.
What if my child is being tested for COVID-19?
Please contact Maria Massey at maria.massey@kirkdayschool.org . The child and any KDS siblings in the household must remain at home until the following guidelines have been met.
If test results are NEGATIVE:
Student may return to school after a negative COVID-19 test
KDS siblings may return to school as well
If test results are POSITIVE, send documentation to the KDS office, notify Maria Massey at maria.massey@kirkdayschool.org and adhere to the following protocol:
If symptomatic, student may return to school once ALL conditions below are met:
24 hours with no fever
AND symptoms improving
AND approved by health care provider (typically 10-14 days since symptoms first appeared)
If asymptomatic, student may return to school once ALL conditions below are met:
You continue to have no symptoms
AND 10 days have passed since test
KDS siblings should remain at home for the duration of the affected student’s quarantine. They may return to school at the end of the quarantine if they have remained symptom free and if they have received the approval of a healthcare provider.
What defines COVID-19 Exposure/Close Contact?
You were within 6 feet of someone who has COVID-19 for at least 15 minutes within 48 hours of positive person’s onset of symptoms or within 10 days after symptoms onset.
You provided care at home to someone who is sick with COVID-19 within 48 hours of positive person’s onset of symptoms or within 10 days after symptoms onset.
You shared eating or drinking utensils within 48 hours of positive person’s onset of symptoms or within 10 days after symptoms onset.
The person sneezed, coughed or somehow got respiratory droplets on you within 48 hours of positive person’s onset of symptoms or within 10 days after symptoms onset.
What is someone at KDS gets COVID-19?
If a KDS student or teacher tests positive for COVID-19, the KDS administration will engage in the contact tracing process and contact you if it determines that your student has had close contact to the person who tested positive.
What happens when a student lives with someone who is awaiting a COVID-19 test result?
The KDS student should remain at home until the family member’s test results come back negative.
What happens when a student lives with someone who tests positive for COVID-19?
Even if the KDS student is asymptomatic, if they live with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, they must quarantine at home for 14 days until receiving approval from a healthcare provider to return to school.
If the KDS student should become symptomatic, they will need to isolate for 10 days from their symptom onset, follow the direction of their pediatrician, and may not return to school without the approval of their healthcare provider.
